WELCOME TO COTA 2016 - the 39th!
WELCOME TO COTA 2016 - the 39th!
PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY
You should arrive at the musicians checkpoint (see map) at least ONE HALF HOUR prior to your scheduled performance. Check in with our staff member there to receive your BACKSTAGE BUTTON, PARKING PASS and COMPLIMENTARY TICKET (one per performance day) for your spouse or significant other. Your children (with you) will be admitted free. You all may enter through this gate. Once inside, we must discourage children from hanging out in the tent because of the instruments, etc. Any other backstage guests can be cleared with security at the front steps to the stage. If you play both days - BRING YOUR PARKING PASS WITH YOU ON SUNDAY, please. WE ARE SIGNIFICANTLY SHORT OF PARKING SPACES DUE TO CHANGES BY THE PROPERTY OWNER. PLEASE CAR POOL AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. WE ONLY HAVE 50 SPACES FOR MORE THAN 100 MUSICIANS.
Remember - all musicians should check in at least 1/2 hour before performance. If you're new to COTA - ask for stage manager Jim Wyckoff or Erica Golaszewski. Erica Golaszewski is our Musician Relations volunteer and can also be approached if you need something. PLEASE KEEP YOUR BUTTON VISIBLE SO SECURITY CAN SEE IT. THEY ARE ALL VOLUNTEERS AND WE DON’T WANT TO MAKE THEIR JOB ANY MORE DIFFICULT THAN NECESSARY.
Our gate persons are volunteers and are expected to follow the procedure outlined above. Please be cool with them - if needed, ask for help from the backstage staff.
Please note that ANY group planning to have their set professionally recorded must acquire advance permission. We are trying to prevent unauthorized taping of musicians and their groups.
Please check the final schedule for performance time. Your slot includes set-up and tear down time. We have to keep on schedule. Please check out the possibilities for pre-sets and/or the sharing of amps, drum sets, etc. COTA owns a Yamaha drum set if you want to use it. We do not have cymbals. A really nice Eden 2x10 bass cabinet will be available. Jim Wyckoff will be your backstage contact.
The schedule has gone to the printer. PLEASE CAREFULLY CHECK THE PERSONNEL listed for your group (the schedule is at our website: www.cotajazz.org - if you need a printed schedule, please let us know). BE SURE TO CALL ERICA GOLASZEWSKI (570-234-6242) WITH ANY CHANGES PRIOR TO SEPT. 6th. Checks are drawn in advance of festival weekend and we can't pay last minute subs. The scheduling committee and the audience expect personnel to be as printed in the festival program.
Kent Heckman of Red Rock Recording will once again be responsible for the audience mix. You may, if you choose, assign ONE individual to consult with him about your sound.
CDs will not be available from Kent Heckman after your set. Copies will be available upon request after the festival by contacting him. WVIA will be bringing their recording truck to record the festival for future radio broadcast. CDs will then be available from WVIA, but you must contact George Graham directly.
